“Never say never” – Michelle Obama open to cosmetic procedures
She’s the picture of good health and beauty on her 50th birthday – and it’s no surprise. Michelle Obama has always stressed the importance of everyone taking care of themselves and eating healthy. Part of her secret is making sure she gets regular health check-ups, exercising frequently and eating a balanced diet with lots of vegetables and fruits.
To mark the milestone birthday, People magazine asked the First Lady if she would ever consider wrinkle-relaxing injections in her future. Her answer (printed in the issue that hits newsstands Jan. 17):
“Women should have the freedom to do whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves. Right now, I don’t imagine that I would go that route, but I’ve also learned to never say never.”
While the First Lady might not be ready to dive into the world of wrinkle-relaxing injections just yet, more women (and men) are treating themselves to these minimally invasive procedures to help them look as young as they feel. ASDS members performed 1.5 million wrinkle-relaxing injections in 2012, up from 1.2 million in 2011. (2013 numbers are expected out in a few weeks.)
Wrinkle-relaxing injections are the perfect combination – they can treat a wide variety of concerns about aging skin (from forehead furrows to crow’s feet) yet have little to no recovery time and are virtually pain-free.
It’s best to remember that cosmetic procedures are still medical procedures! If you’re thinking of trying wrinkle-relaxing injections yourself, dermatologic surgeons are the experts in these procedures. Find an ASDS member dermatologist near you to schedule a consultation to discuss your concerns and goals so you and your doctor can develop the perfect treatment plan for your skin’s health and beauty.
